POSITION TITLE: Business Unit Manager or Business Unit Director


Maintains full responsibility for assigned business unit, including profitability, product management, budgeting and business unit operations


  • Responsible for overall profitability ratios for assigned business unit
  • Creates sales projections and sets objectives for assigned business unit products
  • Coordinates Product management with Field Sales organization, Research and Development, Engineering, and Marketing
  • Develops and executes full strategic sales and marketing plans and programs for assigned business unit products
  • Drives sales effort for assigned business unit products
  • Responsible for increasing and tracking company market share
  • Must have “team” approach and work as a “teammate” with Field Sales and the other Company Units and departments
  • Responsible for advancing Company Customer Service Reputation with external & internal Customer base
  • Constructs and administers budget for assigned business unit
  • Assigns and allocates resources to achieve specific business results
  • Directs subordinate managers and supervisors in resource allocation, personnel decisions and business priorities
  • Demonstrates strong skills working with Parent Company and international Customers
  • Complies with applicable Company policies about a drug free workplace
  • Complies with all Company policies such as adherence to Company ISO 9001 Standards, Company Affirmative Action Plan
  • and Company Safety procedures
  • Incorporates Company standards of excellence into daily work to foster a Total Quality environment and demonstrates personal commitment to excellence
  • Other functions as required (non-critical functions)


  • Directly supervises subordinate managers and other employees
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities according to organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems


  • Certified Business Unit Manager™ from Business Unit Execution LLC
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and/or Engineering
  • 5 years P&L experience (revenue responsibility above $5 million USD)
  • Direct experience in Project Management, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Sales and Contracts
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community
  • Ability to write & deliver speeches and articles for publications while conforming to prescribed style and format
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
